Insurance Questions, Answered
Why should I buy insurance through Sahare Wealth instead of directly?
We compare plans from multiple insurers, explain the fine print in simple language, help with paperwork and medical tests, remind you about renewals and support you during claims. You pay the premium directly to the insurance company; we don't charge any extra advisory fee for this.
How much term insurance cover do I need?
A common starting point is 10–20 times your annual income, plus outstanding loans and major future goals such as children's education, minus existing cover and savings. Use our calculator above for a quick estimate, then speak to us for a personalised figure.
What is the difference between term insurance and endowment / ULIP plans?
Term insurance is pure protection: it gives a large cover at a low premium, but usually no maturity benefit. Endowment and ULIP plans mix insurance with savings or investment, so the premium is much higher for a far smaller cover. For most families, a term plan for protection and separate investments (such as mutual funds) work better.
My employer gives me health cover. Do I still need my own policy?
Yes, in most cases. Group cover usually ends when you change or leave your job, and the sum insured may be too small for your family. A personal policy gives continuity, and the waiting periods you complete keep counting in your favour over the years.
What are waiting periods in health insurance?
Most health policies have an initial waiting period for illnesses (accidents are usually covered from day one), and longer waiting periods for pre-existing diseases and certain specific treatments. The exact durations differ by plan and are stated in the policy document, so we help you compare them before you buy.
What is the difference between cashless and reimbursement claims?
In a cashless claim, the insurer settles the bill directly with a network hospital after approval. In a reimbursement claim, you pay the hospital first and then submit bills and documents to the insurer to get the money back. Choosing an insurer with a strong hospital network in your city makes cashless treatment easier.
Can I save tax with insurance?
Premiums paid for life insurance and health insurance may be eligible for tax deductions under the old tax regime, subject to limits and conditions in the prevailing Income Tax laws. These deductions are generally not available under the new tax regime. Please consult your tax advisor for your specific situation.
Can I switch (port) my health insurance to another company?
Yes. Health insurance portability lets you move to another insurer at renewal while keeping credit for waiting periods already served, as per IRDAI guidelines and the new insurer's underwriting. Apply well before your renewal date; we can help you compare and manage the process.
Is motor insurance mandatory?
Yes. Third-party motor insurance is compulsory under the Motor Vehicles Act for every vehicle on public roads. A comprehensive policy additionally covers damage to your own vehicle, and add-ons like zero-depreciation can reduce what you pay from your pocket at claim time.
What should I keep in mind to avoid claim rejection?
Always disclose your health history, habits (such as smoking) and income honestly in the proposal form; non-disclosure is a common reason for claim rejection. Keep your nominee details updated, read exclusions, and inform the insurer (and us) promptly when a claim event occurs.
